Research that Matters: The Role of Research and Research Partners in the Smart Policing Initiative

The Smart Policing Initiative presented a webinar on “Research that Matters: The Role of Research and Research Partners in the Smart Policing Initiative.” Dr. Scott Decker, the Director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Arizona State University and a Smart Policing Initiative Subject Matter Expert, facilitated this online seminar. Research plays an integral role in the Smart Policing Initiative; in fact this focus on research distinguishes this initiative from other interventions. During this presentation, Dr. Decker led a discussion and learning session covering why research is critical, the research process in the Smart Policing Initiative, and early successes seen from sites that can be partly attributed to using research.
