From September to December 2012, ICPC was commissioned by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to develop the Training Manual on Policing Urban Space to be used alongside the Introductory Handbook on Policing Urban Space, prepared by UNODC and UN-HABITAT in 2011. The Training Manual is designed to assist police working in urban areas within low- and middle-income countries to develop crime prevention knowledge and skills. The manual focuses on the dynamics of urban spaces, and outlines the importance of prevention and multi-sector collaboration in advancing urban safety. The manual includes a prevention approach that is gender sensitive and grounded in internationally recognized human rights principles and instruments.
