November 2012 American Society of Criminology Meeting

The Smart Policing Initiative presented at the 2012 American Society of Criminology annual meeting November 14-17, 2012 in Chicago, IL. CNA and SPI Subject Matter Experts participated in a roundtable on the emergence of smart policing and in sessions on SPI results and implications and building police agency capacity for research and analysis. These sessions included presentations on the value of research in organizational goals, enhancing police utilization of research, and survey results of police planning capacities. Additionally, SPI participants presented on the use of predictive models in place-based policing, tactical deployment strategies for violence reduction, and geographic implementation of methods to reduce prescription drug abuse. Members of the Shawnee, KS, Phoenix, AZ, and Joliet, IL SPI sites participated in the presentations.
